At MedAdvisor, we are extremely fortunate to have a number of amazing individuals who relentlessly innovate every day to improve convenience and access to healthcare through the technology we create.
Today, we shine the spotlight on our Chief Technology Officer, David Chatterton, otherwise known as Chatz around the office.
Why did you want to join MedAdvisor?
I wanted to work for a smaller company again as the challenges with growing a small company are much more fun than the politics of a larger organisation.
MedAdvisor was looking for someone with Agile experience, who had helped an organisation expand overseas and who had experience with running a global SaaS platform. I could tick all of those boxes.
Last but certainly not least, I wanted to work on products that help people in their lives. MedAdvisor absolutely does that.
What does a typical day look like for you at MedAdvisor?
My day starts with some stand-ups where I'm listening for things that are slowing people down, or where clarification might be needed - anything I can do something about. I'm also making sure the team are focused on the goal at hand and watching for distractions.
I run three communities of practice - one for AWS, another for information security and a third for how we can better collaborate as a company. Most days I'm either preparing or running a community meeting on those topics, training people on new skills or thinking about how we can apply that within MedAdvisor.
I can't avoid having some meetings so I might be in a meeting with our Product Managers on how we can approach what is coming down the pipeline, or with the Senior Management Team on how we are performing as a company.
We have a few developer roles open right now, so there is a good chance I'm doing some interviews. I really enjoy doing the first interview as I can explain what we do and look for the candidates with the right cultural fit.
When I can escape from the office, I like to go out and visit MedAdvisor pharmacies or talk to our users and seek their feedback.
And your favourite part of that day would be?
Drinking my first coffee!!
That's what we thought...
What would be the most rewarding part of your role?
It would be watching people learn and grow. One of the best things about a growing company is the opportunity for staff to really develop their careers and grow into new and bigger roles.
What are you most looking forward to achieving over the next year with MedAdvisor?
I'm looking forward to replacing a lot of manual process with automation, from our software builds to how we build, deploy and manage our infrastructure in the cloud.
And finally, a few quick questions before you get back to work...

Favourite Tech Device? I'm never far away from my iPhone, but I just bought myself a 10.5" iPad Pro which could just about replace my laptop.
Number of apps on your phone? I don't have enough fingers to count all the screens...
Three things you can't live without? Just my family. That's why you do this.
Favourite saying? "How does this impact our clients?"
